About Me

I am Lindsey Bustamante, a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW) with over 15 years of experience in treating a variety of clients and issues. I received my BSW in 2008 and MSW in 2009 both from the University of Georgia. I obtained my LCSW in 2012 and have worked in private practice since 2015, narrowing my focus to anxiety disorders, relational work, and healing from trauma. Outside of my work as a therapist, I am a wife, mother, and stepmother, which are roles that continually deepen my appreciation for the complexity of relationships, emotional growth, and the courage it takes to show up authentically with ourselves and the people we love.

I place great value on the therapeutic relationship, and my goal is to, first and foremost, make you feel comfortable and safe. I am committed to creating a space where all parts of you are welcome. This includes individuals from marginalized and historically excluded communities, as well as those who have felt misunderstood, unseen or pressured to disconnect from themselves in order to belong. Your information is confidential and I wholeheartedly consider it a privilege to hear your story.

Lindsey Bustamante, LCSW

â€‹In my therapy with you, I will always encourage and reiterate the importance of mindfulness (living in the present moment), non-judgment and self-compassion. I will employ several different theoretical approaches, some of which are: Internal Family Systems (IFS), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Exposure Response Prevention (ERP). For couples' work, I use these same approaches to help create a calm, attuned base in each partner, and then work on building skills to improve communication and connection. These are all evidence-based treatments that are proven to be effective for a variety of issues. Regardless of which type of approach you need, there will be suggestions about skills to practice in between sessions. This is a crucial element of achieving change and progress in therapy. The more effort you invest in your therapy, the faster you will see improvements. For more information about these treatments, see the links below. And, of course, if you have more questions about my approach, please feel free to contact me.
