About Me

I am Lindsey Bustamante, a licensed clinical social worker with over 15 years of experience in treating a variety of clients and issues. I received my BSW in 2008 and MSW in 2009 both from the University of Georgia. I obtained my LCSW in 2012.

Over the years, I realized my passion for working with anxiety and trauma; as I saw that many of my clients' suffering was connected to trauma in their background.

My ideal client is someone who is motivated to change but unsure how; to be willing to try something different to get the results they want.

I place great value on the therapeutic relationship, and my goal is to first and foremost make you feel comfortable and safe. I treat my clients with dignity and respect. I am a safe place for members of marginalized communities. Your information is confidential and I consider it a privilege to hear your story. Therapy is a process that takes courage, effort and time. I invite you to try this process with me so I can help you achieve the goals you have for yourself.

Lindsey Bustamante, LCSW

With each client, it is so important that I take the time to get to know you and your story, to determine what approach would be most helpful. Some clients benefit from a more directive and structured approach, while others need flexibility. No matter what approach you need, you are always in charge of your therapy. I will help you to establish the goals that you feel would make the most productive changes in your life.

In my therapy with you, I will always encourage and reiterate the importance of mindfulness (living in the present moment), non-judgment and self-compassion. I will employ several different theoretical approaches, some of which are: Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Exposure Response Prevention (ERP). These are all evidence based treatments that are proven to be effective for a variety of issues. Regardless of which type of approach you need, there will be suggestions about skills to practice in between sessions. This is a crucial element of achieving change and progress in therapy. The more effort you invest in your therapy, the faster you will see improvements. For more information about these treatments, see the links below. And, of course, if you have more questions about my approach, please feel free to contact me.
